| When Andy and Aaron Sánchez began to plan the piece they would be taking to the California Indian Wells Art Festival in late March of 2007, they wanted to create a sofa table with a more modern feel. As it turned out the piece ended up with an Asian flare. This was a good approach considering the popularity of Sushi and Boba with Californians. The California judges liked it enough to give it a 1st place ribbon in furniture. They also won Best of Show over all. The piece measures 5’ long, 14” wide and 30” high. The table top is constructed of walnut, and has stylized arched pecan legs with a piece of Vista Grande marble embedded into the center arch. The top of the table sits on raised scrolling iron brackets. The deep brown walnut top is accented with pieces of inlaid Malachite and silver. Aaron said they chose Malachite because they liked the way it complimented the dark brown walnut wood. |
